  • are registered to vote in one of the ten Greater Manchester districts of Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford or Wigan
  • are 18 or over on 2 May 2024

Please note that British citizens living overseas are not eligible to vote in these elections.

How to Register to Vote

You can register to vote if you are:

  • a British citizen
  • an Irish or EU citizen living in the UK
  • a Commonwealth citizen who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission

The deadline to register to vote in the 2 May elections has now passed.

You can still register to vote in future elections using the information below.

You don’t have to register again if you’re already registered to vote at your current address. Being registered for other council services (for example, council tax) does not mean you’re registered to vote. If you have moved house since you last voted, you must register at your new address.

You can check if you are already registered to vote or get help with your application by contacting your local Electoral Services Team (external webpage).
